Prompts
There was a scene in a 2013 short film I wrote and directed called Devil’s Damned To Try that I’ll never forget. The scene was a handheld oner that showed the panicked lead character storming into his bedroom and packing a bag to flee town. It was an intricate dance that required multiple crew to hide below the frame. As the scene builds, the character ends up slamming his forehead into a glass mirror, shattering the mirror and cutting his forehead. We had one crew member break the mirror with a hammer as another crew member applied blood to the actors head… all while staying hidden from the camera. The shot took us 8 hours to pull off and the entire crew celebrated once it was achieved. That sense of full collaboration and achieving what seemed impossible will never leave me.
Building mountain bike trails in the woods… and watching movies.
Rarely do I see a movie that I keep rewatching over and over again. A few would be Magnolia, Place Beyond The Pines, Sound Of Metal, Never Let Me Go, and Deliverance. But the movie I’ve watched more than any other is The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford.
Any brand that values authentic, subtle storytelling and empathizes with misunderstood communities.
It would have to be the Cadrage app on my phone. It gets used all the time. Oh… and my 1/16th Black Pro Mist filter. Hahaha.
